Industrial Pump Station Overhaul
Complete laser descaling of 14 industrial pump housings at a manufacturing facility — in-situ, without dismantling.
Before & After

Same industrial pump housing — before and after laser cleaning
The Challenge
A food processing plant in Angus had 14 large industrial pump housings that had accumulated 15+ years of rust, scale, and old paint. The pumps were critical to the facility's operation and could not be removed for off-site blasting. Chemical stripping was ruled out due to food safety regulations governing the use of chemicals near processing areas.
The maintenance team needed a solution that could be deployed in-situ during a scheduled 5-day shutdown window, leaving the pumps ready for repainting and return to service.

LSR technician cleaning pump housing in-situ during plant shutdown
Our Solution
LSR mobilised two technicians with portable 500W laser cleaning units. Working in parallel, the team cleaned all 14 pump housings over 4 days — one day ahead of schedule. The laser system required only a standard 240V power supply and generated no abrasive waste, making it ideal for the food-safe environment.
- In-situ cleaning — no dismantling or transport required
- No chemicals — fully food-safe process
- Completed within 4-day shutdown window
- All surfaces brought to SA 2.5 standard
- Minimal waste — only fine oxide dust, easily vacuumed
"We'd been struggling to find a method that worked in our food-safe environment. LSR came in, did the job cleanly and efficiently, and we were back up and running on schedule. The pumps look brand new."
