Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before engaging LSR for any services. By proceeding with a booking or site survey, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

  • "LSR" / "we" / "us" / "our" refers to Laser Surface Restoration, operated by Zehn Rashid, trading from Dundee, Scotland.
  • "Client" / "you" / "your" refers to any individual, business, or organisation engaging LSR for services.
  • "Services" refers to all laser cleaning, surface restoration, and related work carried out by LSR.
  • "Site" refers to the location at which the Services are to be performed.
  • "Quote" refers to the written estimate of cost provided by LSR prior to commencement of work.

2. Call-Out Charge & Site Survey

A minimum call-out charge of £200 (inclusive of VAT where applicable) applies to all site visits, including site surveys and assessments. This charge is payable prior to or upon arrival at the Site.

Upon confirmation of a job and commencement of the agreed works, 50% of the call-out charge (£100) will be credited against the final invoice. The remaining 50% is non-refundable and covers travel, time, and assessment costs.

The call-out credit applies only to the specific job quoted at the time of the site survey. It is not transferable to future jobs, third parties, or alternative sites.

If the Client cancels the job after a site survey has been conducted but before work commences, the full £200 call-out charge is retained by LSR and no credit is applicable.

3. Test Section & Trial Cleaning

Important

Prior to full-scale cleaning, LSR will carry out a test section on an inconspicuous or agreed area of the surface. The purpose of this test is to confirm the effectiveness of the laser process on the specific material, contamination type, and condition present.

The Client must inspect and confirm satisfaction with the test section result before full works proceed. By approving the test section (verbally, in writing, or by permitting works to continue), the Client accepts the standard of finish that the laser process is capable of achieving on that surface.

LSR accepts no liability for dissatisfaction with the final result where the Client has approved a test section that demonstrated a comparable outcome.

Important — Surface Texture & Appearance

Laser cleaning is a highly effective but inherently ablative process. On surfaces with heavy, deeply embedded, or stubborn rust and corrosion, the cleaning process may result in:

  • A rough or pitted surface texture where corrosion has penetrated the substrate material
  • Burn marks, discolouration, or heat tinting on metals, particularly at higher power settings required to remove thick contamination
  • Variation in surface finish between treated and untreated areas, particularly on aged or weathered materials
  • Residual surface oxidation that may reappear within hours of cleaning if the substrate is not immediately primed or coated

These outcomes are characteristic of the material condition and are not defects in LSR's workmanship. The test section process exists specifically to allow the Client to assess and accept these possibilities before full works commence.

4. Pricing, Quotes & Payment

All quotes are provided in writing and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. Quotes are based on information provided by the Client and the site survey assessment.

LSR reserves the right to revise a quote if the actual scope of work differs materially from what was assessed — for example, if the contamination is significantly more severe, the area is larger, or access conditions are more complex than anticipated.

Our minimum service charge is £300. All prices are subject to survey and written confirmation.

Payment terms are as agreed in the written quote. LSR reserves the right to require a deposit prior to commencement of works. Invoices are due within 14 days of completion unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Laser Safety, Hazards & Site Conduct

Important

Laser Safety Warning

The laser equipment used by LSR operates at high power levels and presents serious risk of permanent eye injury and skin burns if safety protocols are not observed. All persons present at or near the work area must comply with the safety requirements set out below.

5.1 Exclusion Zone

LSR will establish a clearly demarcated laser exclusion zone around the work area prior to commencing operations. The Client is responsible for ensuring that:

  • All members of the public, bystanders, and non-essential personnel are kept at a safe distance from the exclusion zone at all times during laser operation
  • Access to the exclusion zone is restricted to LSR operatives and any persons who have been briefed on laser safety and are wearing appropriate PPE
  • Children, animals, and vulnerable individuals are kept well clear of the work area

5.2 Eye Protection

Direct viewing of the laser process is strictly prohibited without appropriate eye protection.

No person should directly observe the laser beam, the laser interaction point, or any reflective surfaces in the work area without wearing laser-rated safety eyewear appropriate to the wavelength of the equipment in use. Standard sunglasses or safety glasses do not provide adequate protection.

LSR operatives will wear appropriate laser safety eyewear at all times during operation. The Client must not permit any person to approach or observe the active laser process without first confirming with the LSR operative that they are wearing suitable PPE.

5.3 Fumes & Ventilation

The laser ablation process may generate fumes, smoke, and particulate matter from the vaporised contaminant. LSR uses extraction equipment to manage this, but the Client must ensure adequate ventilation at the Site and inform LSR in advance of any confined spaces, sensitive environments, or persons with respiratory conditions in the vicinity.

5.4 Client Responsibilities

The Client is responsible for:

  • Providing safe access to the work area and ensuring the Site is free from hazards not disclosed prior to the visit
  • Notifying LSR of any known hazardous materials (e.g. lead paint, asbestos, chemical coatings) on the surface to be cleaned
  • Ensuring that all persons under the Client's control comply with LSR's safety instructions during the works
  • Obtaining any necessary permits, consents, or permissions required to carry out the works at the Site

6. Liability & Limitations

LSR carries public liability insurance. Our liability to the Client shall not exceed the value of the contract for the specific job in question.

LSR accepts no liability for:

  • Pre-existing damage, structural weakness, or hidden defects in the surface or substrate that become apparent during or after cleaning
  • Surface texture changes, discolouration, or finish variation that were demonstrated in and accepted via the test section process
  • Re-oxidation or re-contamination of cleaned surfaces after LSR has left the Site
  • Injury, loss, or damage arising from the Client's failure to comply with the safety requirements set out in Section 5
  • Any consequential, indirect, or economic loss arising from the Services

7. Cancellation & Rescheduling

Cancellations must be made in writing (email or text message) at least 48 hours before the scheduled start date to avoid a cancellation charge.

Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice may incur a charge of up to 50% of the quoted job value, at LSR's discretion, to cover lost scheduling and preparation costs.

LSR reserves the right to reschedule works due to adverse weather, equipment issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We will provide as much notice as possible and will not charge for rescheduling initiated by LSR.

8. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising from the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

LSR reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version published on this website at the time of booking shall apply.

These Terms were last updated: April 2025.

By engaging LSR for any service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
